Saskia Meijer, the artist

Saskia Meijer was born in Paramaribo. She studied Drawing and Textile Art in Nijmegen in 1988 and 1989.

She later studied Graphic Design at the St. Joost Academy in Breda and graduated from the Painting Department in 1994.
In 2008 she attended the training of Dynamic Art of Coaching children at the Kleine Tiki in Breda and afterwards she spent one year studying dance, drama and movement.

From 1997 to 2007 she edited drawings and layouts of book covers for the publishing house Dabar Luyten.

She teaches art to adults and children.
Colour plays a central role in her work. For her, painting is a path.

Two quotations that she loves:
-Our joy can be seen only when we have recreated its inside (Rainer Maria Rilke).
-All paths lead to the same goal: to convey to others what we are (Pablo Neruda).

Saskia lives and works with her husband and son in Tilburg from 2005.
Her work is regularly on display at exhibitions or at her studio.
